About the role

As the Assistant Building Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of a modern, purpose-built student residence. You will be an integral part of the on-site team, helping to ensure smooth operations, an outstanding resident experience, and strong pastoral care services that support students' personal and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Operational Management:
    Assist the Building Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the property, including compliance with safety standards, maintenance scheduling, and managing contractors.

  • Resident Experience:
    Be a friendly, approachable presence for students. Engage with residents to foster a positive living environment and help deliver events, activities, and services that enhance the student experience.

  • Pastoral Care and Student Well-being:
    Support the delivery of well-being initiatives and be available to students when they need guidance or support, ensuring they feel safe, included, and part of a thriving community.

  • Administration and Reporting:
    Manage administrative tasks, including logging maintenance issues, managing room inventories, and assisting with resident enquiries.

  • Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with the Building Manager and other team members to deliver a seamless resident experience and meet operational goals.​

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in property management, business, hospitality, or a related field (or working towards one).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents from diverse backgrounds.

  • Previous experience in a property, hospitality, or customer-service role.

  • A hands-on, problem-solving attitude with excellent organizational skills.

  • A warm, empathetic approach to supporting student well-being.

  • The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
